Elections 2013 – Ward 4 – (D) Tobias Freeman
Hello, my name is Tobias Freeman, and I am the endorsed Democratic candidate seeking your support for re-election as Alderman in the 4th Ward on the Common Council in the city of New Britain for the November 5th elections. I have two daughters, ages 8 and 6 both who attend Jefferson Elementary School currently in 3rd and 1st grade; I am a homeowner and lived in New Britain for the past 13 years. I have earned my Bachelor of Science degree from Central Connecticut State University graduating with a double concentration in Public Accountancy and Business Administration. I am also a certified public accountant as a registered certificate holder in the state of Connecticut. I am member of several professional organizations where I also serve in various leadership roles, I volunteer my time within the community as I serve as Treasurer of the Board of Directors for local not-for-profit organization, as well as volunteering my time as a parent elected member of the Holmes Elementary School Governance Council during the past school term.
The priorities I would like to focus on are community economic development, education and fiscal responsibility. Over the past several months, we have made great investments towards improving our communities, our parks, and our education system. These investments, I believe are part of the equation to ensure viable and sustainable growth for New Britain, as these investments will attract families and businesses alike to move to and conduct business in New Britain; however, more work is needed. These investments came at a cost, and we need to ensure New Britain manages its day to day operations to ensure money is spent prudently; that projects undertaken are being completed effectively and efficiently; that City owned property is sold and placed back on the tax rolls; and ensure New Britain continues to provide quality services.
