Rodriguez in Taekwondo Championships

On Friday July 5th New Britain resident Ceana Rodriguez competed in the 2013 USAT National Championships which was the biggest Taekwondo tournament in US history consisting of 4,193 athletes. Ceana who had already won the AAU Taekwondo National Championships on July 2nd that took place in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, made some history of her own by traveling to Chicago to fight and win in the USA Taekwondo (USAT) National Championships. USAT is the official governing body of sport Taekwondo in the United States. By winning the AAU Taekwondo National Championships Ceana became a five time AAU Takewondo National Champion, more prominently, by winning the USAT Taekwondo National Championships Ceana becomes a member of Team USA and will be traveling to the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado to join the rest of the USA Taekwondo National Team for a week of training.

Ceana is the only Taekwondo athlete in the state of Connecticut to have ever won both the AAU and USAT Taekwondo National Championships in the same year making history of her own. Ceana trains at Styles United Transformative Martial Arts located in South Windsor, CT (http://www.stylesunited-taekwondo.com). Styles United is the only studio in Connecticut getting their Olympic sport Taekwondo Athletes on Team USA.
