Homebound Deliveries – Let the Library Come to You

The New Britain Public Library is pleased to provide free delivery of library materials to New Britain residents of any age who are physically unable to get to the library on their own, including the elderly, the disabled and those who are temporarily incapacitated by illness or accident. For example, if you are no longer able to drive, have mobility problems, require extended bed rest, or have a broken leg, we can deliver. You may remain in the program for as long as you need the service. Both short-term and extended service is available. Don’t forgo your love of reading!

You can request specific titles or allow a librarian to make selections based on your reading tastes. Simply tell us what you enjoy or request by title or author. Books, including Large Print, Audiobooks and magazines, can all be delivered to your home and then picked up at a scheduled time.

Homebound Delivery visits are made to a patron once a month, depending on staff availability. A schedule will be discussed with you during your first visit. This service is free. You will not be charged any late fines, although you will be responsible for lost or damaged items.

We also make deliveries to many of the city’s convalescent homes. Check with their staff to get delivery during your stay.

Help us get the word out. If you know of someone who might benefit from this library service, let them know that the library offers it. For more information or to start the service, call 860-224-3155 ext. 140.

On behalf of the library staff and board, I wish you happy holidays and a new year of hope, promise, good health and happiness.
