Editor’s Note 11-16-2012
We enjoyed the response from sending out 23,000 papers to homes by mail directly so much last week that we decided to do it again this week. I would love to be able to do it every week. I will do it as often as I can.
Residents need to know what is really happening in our City. We plan to keep everyone informed. We want to be THE paper to get your City news from. And the best part is we are Free!
In a time when newspapers are falling by the wayside, we are growing. We have hired several new correspondents to give you City news. We believe this is a good sign for our City. If local advertising has helped us grow, it means the City is growing as well.
Thank you New Britain for all your support. Better things are on the way.
My favorite part of the paper are little things like our Kids Spiel. I just think there is nothing better than hearing from our children. They are smart. They are funny. They are our future.
Throughout the paper there are great items about our children’s accomplishments. Feel free to submit your news.
It’s not too long until the Downtown District’s Annual Tree Lighting. This year it really looks to be better than ever. It is on Tuesday, Nov. 27. Don’t miss it. It is one of my favorite events in the City all year. I love Santa Claus. I’m just a kid at heart.
It is nice to see people in our downtown. The Halloween Trick or Treat Safe Zone event was such a success that the New Britain City Journal and the Downtown District, are looking for more opportunities to bring residents downtown. I would love to be more involved in making that happen.
This past week, I was down there for the Veteran’s Day ceremonies. It has so much to offer. It won’t be long either until the Streetscape Project redoes the park and downtown. It has already started a bit around the new police station. The opening of the police station should also make people feel more secure as well.
If you read my column weekly you know it is time for my Joke from Facebook. I had to read this one a few times before I got it, but it is amusing.
“I never run with scissors. And those last two words were unnecessary.”
I’m not sure about you, but I walk with or without scissors.
Don’t hesitate to join the New Britain City Journal Facebook group and give me funny jokes. Just be sure they are printable.
Until next week, only walk with scissors and keep reading YOUR #1 Weekly Newspaper!
