For those who didn’t know, I spent last week on vacation in Canada. It was quite interesting. Gas is $1.26 a liter which ends up about $4.77 a gallon. The high price makes no sense to me as Canada produces most of its own fuel. I found it quite funny that prices change in the middle of the night there also. From about 1 a.m. to 4 a.m. gas prices go down about 5 cents. The more peak the hour of traffic the higher the price is. I thought it was bad that the US gas stations changed their price each day (on average) around 1 p.m. Changing prices depending on the time of the day is just wild.

I also found they have a franchise called Boston Pizza. It’s a Canadian company and not found in the U.S. What the heck?

While I was there a Canadian also gave me his advice on how to fix the US. Some recommendations include having a flat 15 percent tax for everyone on their income. This way those who make more pay more. I was also told to put an end to lobbyists in Washington D.C. If only I had that much power.

Well, I am glad to be back. I really missed not producing a paper. I had a lot of comments that other people missed it too.

This week begins something new for our paper. We are now being delivered by mail to homes each week. We are not going to all homes so if you do not get one do not worry. Each week different homes will get it. We want to make sure everyone gets the chance to read our newspaper.

School starts Tuesday. The summer went by fast. I will miss it, but I won’t miss the humidity. If you have a child going to school, most of the information you need is on page 1.

Latino Success Stories continues this week on page 2. It’s a great addition that runs occasionally thanks to Kate Roy of the Consolidated School District.

I find it quite interesting that Taco Bell is moving into a new building in NewBrite Plaza. I wonder what will go in the spot they vacate.

I did find out that something that we all love to drink will be located at the new police department. Details are not out yet, but Mayor Tim O’Brien tells me coffee will be served.

It seems to get harder each week to find a good funny joke on Facebook. Here is what I have this week.

“If women ruled the world there would be no wars. Just a bunch of jealous countries not talking to each other.”

Would that be better or worse?

Until next week, find me a good joke and keep reading YOUR #1 Weekly Newspaper!
