NBYT To Perform “I’m Getting Nothin’ For Christmas” At TOM

The New Britain Youth Theater will produce the premiere of an original holiday play, I’m Getting Nothin’ for Christmas, on Dec. 9, 10 and 11 at Trinity-on-Main Performance Center in downtown New Britain.

I’m Getting Nothin’ for Christmas tells the story of three children who get themselves on Santa’s naughty list, and it takes sneaking to the North Pole and the help of every good elf there to set things right and uncover a mischievous plot. The play, which includes familiar Christmas songs, was written by Connecticut playwright Denise Clapsaddle, author of last season’s A Children’s Christmas Carol based on the Dickens classic. The production will be directed by NBYT Executive Artistic Director David B. Sousa.

“This is a fun, fast-paced show where Year Without a Santa Claus meets Ocean’s Eleven in a children’s Christmas caper,” said Sousa, adding that the show stars children ages 6 through 14 and is appropriate for audiences of all ages. The large cast of forty-eight children has come together from New Britain, Berlin, Bristol, Farmington Hamden, Hartford, New Haven, Newington, North Haven, Plainville, Portland, Southington, Thomaston, Torrington, Watertown, Windsor and Woodbury. The production’s venue, Trinity-on-Main, was formerly Trinity United Methodist Church until 2000 when the building was nearly demolished. It is now a 300-seat performance space which was renovated last season with new seating and carpeting.

I’m Getting Nothin’ for Christmas will be performed at Trinity-on-Main Performance Center, located at 69 Main Street in New Britain. Performances are Friday, Dec. 9, at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 10, at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 11, at 2 p.m. Ticket prices are $12 for adults and $10 for children, students, and seniors. Special group rates are available for parties of ten or more. Tickets may be reserved by calling New Britain Youth Theater at 860-515-8115 or may be purchased online through a link at www.nbyt.org.
