Veterans Concerts Planned for New Britain

New Britain Parks and Recreation Department is planning four free Veterans Concerts in honor of all veterans and members of the military, both past and present. They will feature the Navy Band Northeast’s Showband, the U.S. Air Force Band of Liberty’s Rock Horn Band, the U.S. Army Field Band’s “Volunteers”, and the U. S. Army Field Band’s “Concert Band and Soldiers’ Chorus”. These bands will be travelling to New Britain from as far away as Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Washington, D.C.

The Darius Miller Band Shell in Walnut Hill Park will be the location for concerts by the Navy Band Northeast’s Showband on Tuesday, August 16 and by the U.S. Air Force Band of Liberty’s Rock Horn Band on Thursday, August 25. Both concerts will take place at 7 p.m.

The other two concerts will take place closer to Veterans Day. The U.S. Army Field Band will bring two of their ensembles to New Britain this fall, the “Volunteers” and the “Concert Band and Soldiers’ Chorus”. The “Volunteers” will perform on Sunday, October 30th, at 2 p.m. at Trinity On Main located at 69 Main Street in New Britain. The “Concert Band and Soldiers’ Chorus” will perform on Veterans Day, November 11th at 7 p.m. at the New Britain High School Auditorium located at 110 Mill St.

Tickets for the October 30 and November 11 shows are free of charge, limited, mandatory, and available on a first come first served basis. They are available by coming into the Parks and Recreation Department Office at City Hall Room 302, 27 West Main St., New Britain, CT, or by mailing in a self-addressed stamped envelope.
