Wine and Beer Tasting Event to Meet NBHS Football Coach

Come meet the newly appointed New Britain High School Football Coach Tebucky Jones on Saturday, June 18. The night features a Wine and Beer Tasting Event, sponsored by M & M on Discount Wines and Liquors at 22 Chamberlain Highway in Kensington, CT. The event is brought to you by New Britain Friends of Football at the VFW Hall on Veterans Drive in New Britain. There will be plenty of appetizers to go with the beer and wine tasting. The fundraiser will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Tebucky Jones played football for New Britain P.A.L. in the late 1980s and at New Britain High School from 1989 to 1992, where he played on both sides of the ball and gained 4,541 yards and scored 53 touchdowns. He was selected Connecticut Football player of the year in 1993 by “USA Today”. The High School retired his number 34. Jones went to Syracuse University on a scholarship from 1993 to 1997 (red shirted in 1993), where he switched to just the defensive side of the ball in his senior year. He was drafted by the New England Patriots in 1998 and played there five years, winning a Super Bowl Ring in 2002 with them. Traded to New Orleans Saints in 2002, he played there for three years. His last year in pro football was in 2005 with the Miami Dolphins. He founded the Tebucky Jones Youth Foundation in 1998, which has an annual youth football camp in Hartford, and has been attended by Jets and Patriots and Cleveland Browns coaches and players, including Jets Coach Eric Mangini. Jones has been an assistant coach at New Britain High for the past two years.

The Wine and Beer Tasting Event, from 7 to 10 p.m., will offer appetizers from many local eateries, included in the ticket price. Raffle prizes will include Stanley tools, gift certificates for local restaurants and markets, appliances and gift certificates for various services, among many other things.
