Editor’s Note 9/20/2018

Fall certainly has arrived with cooler weather, changing leaves (yes I have seem some) and shorter days. I do miss the sun being out at 8 p.m. I hate going out in the dark. It just feels so dreary.

In the next couple of weeks the City Journal will be undergoing a transition of sorts. Please be patient with the paper. Much more to come.

It seems as of late many new businesses have opened up in New Britain. It made me wonder just how much property the City has for new businesses interested in coming into our City. I found there is not many large locations available for purchase or rent. Most open space is for offices. People who say much of the City is vacant appear to be wrong. This City has been growing, especially in the last nine or ten months. See page 1 for more details.

I was sorry to see The Kitchen close. It is a tough location. We need people to come downtown. I wished they had advertised more. I heard they had some great shows. I was never informed or I would have included info in my briefs. Always, send us and other newspapers items of interest.

I am so excited about the Halloween Safe Zone this year. We need performers and raffle prizes for our Oct. 19 fundraiser. It would be nice if a few volunteers could perform a half hour each. Or maybe, a DJ wants to volunteer some time for us? We also want to invite the public to attend. Read page 1 and please help us if you can.

This Saturday is the car show downtown. It really is a fun event. I love choosing which car I would take home if I could. Usually, it’s a car from the 1950’s, but I have seen both older and newer cars I love. The weather looks beautiful so be sure to stop by. See story on page 2.

We have some great submitted columns. This week Pat Rutkowski, New Britain Public Library Director fills us in on how Literary Libations went and Attorney Robert Scalise Jr. tells us about estate planning challenges. We treasure columns from local residents.

Are you ready for this week’s joke?

A guy in a plane stood up & shouted: “HIJACK!”

All passengers got scared.

From the other end of the plane, a guy shouted back “HI JOHN”.

Until next time, be careful who you greet in an airplane and keep reading New Britain’s #1 Most Trusted Newspaper!
