12th Annual Downtown New Britain/TD Bank Car Show on September 22

The New Britain Downtown District (NBDD) is sponsoring the 12th annual 2018 New Britain/TD Bank Downtown Car Show on Saturday, September 22 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

The show will be in memory of New Britain Downtown District Commissioner, owner of Imperial Trophy & City Luggage and Mason, Orson Roy Rothkopf who passed away this year. The show will take place at Central Park in front of City Hall and from Chestnut Street to Columbus Boulevard and from West Main Street at High Street to Bank Street.

Residents of Hartford, West Hartford, Elmwood and Newington can take the CTfastrak to the 12th Annual Car Show and get off the bus one block from the show, where the Family Fun is Bigger and Better than Ever!

Downtown New Britain steps way-back with many of the old automobiles for you to enjoy. There will be ample free parking in local parking garages and food and drink will available all day from the many fine eateries in Downtown. Public Admission is Free and car owners are asked to make a “free will donation” of $10 for the benefit of the New Britain Police Explorers Youth Group. There will be a 50/50 raffle (which will be drawn after the awards are given) and a door prize raffle every hour. And DJ Brian Skibo will be there to play the music most of the day.

Chrome will be King as Antique Cars from 20’s and 30’s, Classic Cars from the 40’s, Muscle Cars from the 50’s, Street Rods from the 60’s, Imports and the Extreme Tuners (small, late model, non-Detroit automobiles), Japanese and European cars of more recent vintage; some of today’s cars which will be the classics of tomorrow, take over downtown New Britain.

There will be 20 Trophies awarded, plus the Explorer’s Youth Trophy and the Mayor’s Trophy. A new award will be given, The Orson “Roy” Rothkopf Car Club Award for the car club with the best showing. There is a $10 suggested Exhibitor Fee to enter a car in the show.

The show is made possible by the generous support of our sponsors, especially our naming sponsor TD Bank and the Constitution State Classics Car Club. Other Sponsors include: Amato’s Toy and Hobby, Sir Speedy Printing of New Britain, Papa’s Dodge, Imperial Trophy and Luggage of New Britain, The New Britain Police Department, The City of New Britain and Mayor Erin Stewart.

As always, all proceeds benefit the New Britain Police Explorers youth group. New Britain’s West Main Street will be dedicated to this nostalgic retro display. As historic New Britain City Hall serves as the backdrop and local restaurants, exhibitors, vendors and a DJ will add to the family fun. See if your favorite car wins or is awarded the coveted Mayors Trophy.

This year’s Honorary Chair representing the Downtown District Board is Frank Shank (Owner of the New Britain Professional Building & realtor for Amodio Realty LLC) and Vice Chair is John Glowka (Glowka Wealth Management). Matt Wilk represents the organizing car club, Constitution State Classics Car Club.
