Familiar Faces Welcoming Customers at “In The Cut”

The Main Street site formerly called Courtside Cuts opened last April under new ownership as “In the Cut”.

Bryan Delgado, Dysean Shumpert and Kevin Arch worked at the previous location. It went out of business and for eight months the trio was out of work. Then, they decided to renovate and start their own shop.

The three have worked at the location for 6 years or longer and are happy to open in the location.

“Everyone that comes around are familiar with us,” said Shumpert. “We have a lot of regular customers.”

Services include hair cuts, hot towel shaves, beard treatments, scissor blends, and more.

Delgado said there are now 6 stations and 4 are filled as Dave Rodriguez has been added to the staff. They are looking to add two more employees.

“We are looking for more licensed people,” said Delgado. “They would need to take a test and cut models hair in two different styles.”

The trio said they were raised in New Britain and are glad to stay in the City.

“We are all from New Britain, which seems so cliché, but New Britain is what we love, its home. There is a lot of businesses opening in New Britain,” said Delgado. “We actually sponsor DMTS Radio radio and Legacies.”

In the Cut Barber Lounge is open Monday through Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday through Saturday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Student and military discounts are available.

“We have a nice atmosphere. Bring the whole family,” Delgado said. “We can do shorter cuts for ladies, but we do mostly mens.”

There chairs to sit and wait and watch 3 tvs in the waiting area along with free coffee for customers.

Appointments are suggested, but walk-ins are welcome. Appointments can also be made on Walk-ins are suggested to come in early in the week. Parking is in front of the lounge or across the street.

“We welcome this new business to our downtown and wish them much success,” said Mayor Erin Stewart. “Our downtown continues to grow with additional businesses and services.”
