It has been a few weeks since I have written about the Yankees, but it seems so much has changed.
The Bombers are in first place by a half game. They won 19 of 22 games.
Is there anything bad I can say? Nope. All is good in the Bronx.
I am impressed with Miguel Andujar and Gleyber Torres. One will win rookie of the year.
As I write this the Yankees are first in runs at 231 and 5th in WHIP at 1.19. The ERA is 10th at a not impressive 3.66. The team batting average is only 12th at .251.
Aaron Judge leads batting average for the team at .311. That is a great improvement for Judge. He also leads the team in home runs with 11 and RBI’s with 35.
Didi Gregorius, Giancarlo Stanton and Gary Sanchez all have 10 home runs before the 40th game of the year which is a new Yankee record. The Yankees never had four players hit at least 10 home runs in 50 games.
Stanton also raised his batting average 25 points to .252 over last six games.
When it comes to pitching it is all Luis Severino. He leads in wins with 6, ERA at 2.14 and strikeouts with 70.
I’ve never been about statistics. Winning comes first, but this team really has it all.
Can it last all season? Remains to be seen, but the Yankees look like a powerhouse for the next 10 years.
I am definitely optimistic. And you should be too!
