Mayor Erin E. Stewart, Commission Chairman Patrick Dorsey, and the New Britain Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department are planning New Britain’s Main Street U.S.A. In its much anticipated return in 2015, over 10,000 people attended the daylong celebration at the historic Walnut Hill Park. This year, on Saturday, Sept. 8th, from noon to 9 p.m., thousands of people will gather to enjoy a day filled with a variety of cultural foods, adult beer and wine garden, craft and vendor booths, a “kids zone” with rides and amusement activities, helicopter rides, walk-around performers, stages with community performances, children’s entertainment, headlining musical acts, and a fireworks show to end the night! Main Street USA is a celebration of New Britain’s melting pot of cultures.

Behind the band shell on the interior loop road of Walnut Hill Park, food vendors will be set up to sell fried dough and other delicious fried treats, hot dogs and hamburgers, sausage and peppers, cultural foods, ice cream novelties, sodas and water. Further down the road will be arts and crafts vendors, corporate vendors, and civic groups who will sell their goods or promote their services. Last year, over 60 vendors lined the vendor row with more anticipated for 2018.

Come “Experience the New” in New Britain! The New Britain Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department is now taking applications for vendors. Vendors are encouraged to submit an application as soon as possible, as spots are limited. There are four categories in which vendors can submit their application:

  • Food (both profit and nonprofit)
  • Arts and Crafts
  • Civic Groups
  • Corporate

In addition, the event will feature entertainment on three stages throughout the park. The main stage will host a variety of live bands throughout the day on the band shell. The welcome stage will highlight smaller musical acts and groups. The kids zone stage will have more of a family focus with performances to engage young and old.
