Ten games into the season and the Yankees are 5-5. I must say I hoped for a better start.
The next series against the Red Sox is exciting. The Sox are playing well. It is in Boston so it will be especially difficult.
Even if the Yanks are swept, it would be way too early to panic. This team needs time to gel.
Giancarlo Stanton has been a little slow so far. As the weather gets warmer I expect his numbers to increase. He is used to playing in the Miami heat. As the hot weather comes, his bat will get hot.
Aaron Judge has not had a great start either. I am a bit more concerned about him. His mediocre second half last season worried me. I am hoping his numbers will grow. It will be hard to match last year.
I am also still concerned about our relievers. Sometimes they are good and other times I am still not happy. With all the hype they get, they need to improve.
The injury bug continues. It seems every day someone is headed to the DL. In pre-season the Yanks had too many good players and now we are losing them.
Good thing it is a long season. Aaron Hicks will be back this week. Greg Bird, Brandon Drury, Billy McKinney, Jacoby Ellsbury and CC Sabathia could be a little while. Ellsbury suffered another setback this week.
I do want to add a bit of good news. I think Gary Sanchez has shown an amazing improvement behind the plate. He was worrisome last year. His defense is often more important than his offense. He has certainly impressed me this year.
That’s all the news in the Yankee Universe this week. Bleed blue and white!
