New Britain City Journal

New Britain's Weekly Online Newspaper

Editor’s Note 4/5/2018

With the cold weather we are having, it seems premature to write about potholes, but the warm weather will arrive. As it does the potholes in the City will grow in both number and size.

Residents need to be aware of how to report them. This week the City announced SeeClickFix is ready as an app on your phone. See it, click and send it to be fixed.

This idea will certainly help both the City and residents.

Read everything you need to know about potholes on page 1.

Also on page 1 is a photo on Mayor Erin Stewart’s rally. It is ridiculous that she can’t debate. She deserves to have her voice heard. State residents deserve to hear all candidates’ point of view.

Five Churches Brewing opened to an enormous crowd last Friday. I have never seen so many people at a ribbon cutting. It was so fantastic inside the building. The renovations were amazing. I’m not much of a drinker but it certainly seems like a place I would want to hangout. Maybe I will even try the Weerder with guava. See story on page 2.

Our Question of the month was should Rep. Elizabeth Esty resign? We had a lot of people say “yes”. Answers were interesting and continue to roll in on our page. See story on page 3.

On page 4 is information on a great urban renewal exhibit at the Visitor’s Center Gallery 66. Yes, Anthony Vinci is a relative. However, he did a great project and I encourage all to go see it.

The paper also has information on a rabies incident. It is important to have your pet get its shots. I am so glad my dog has hers. If you live in the Belvidere section of the City and see an animal acting strange please call the authorities. We do not want an outbreak of rabies.

I love the Spring because so much is happening in the City. We will try to cover as much as we can. If you have an event, send us information at

I have more jokes this week as people continue to send them to me. Thank you all.

A man walks into a zoo.

The only animal in the zoo is a dog.

It’s a Shih Tzu.

Here is another one.

What do computers like to eat? Chips.

Until next week watch your pet and don’t forget to feed your computer. Oh! And keep reading New Britain’s #1 Most Trusted Newspaper!
