OIC New Britain Annual Gala “Back in Action” June 1
Three people will be honored on June 1 during the OIC New Britain Gala.
According to Paulette Fox, executive director of OIC, the group has “already begun preparations for our Annual Gala, an evening destined to be full of surprises, amazing honorees, great food and drinks, an all around fantastic time to celebrate with wonderful people.”
This year’s theme will be “Through Trials & Tribulations, Let the Good Times Roll.”
OIC will honor Paul Salina, Chief Operations Officer of New Britain Consolidated School District receiving the highest award an OIC can present to an individual or business, the Leon Howard Sullivan Award.
Duane Pierre, Founder/Executive Director of ParaDYM, Inc. will be receiving the Angelo Tomasso Community Award and Sharon Lapila, Secretary at New Britain High will be receiving the OIC Essence Award.
“Our annual gala is our largest fund raiser and this year it so important that the community come out to celebrate this very special occasion,” said Fox. “OIC will also be recognizing four of our partners who have provided worksites for OIC for the past 30 years. We will celebrate and honor four of our Alumni who have been supporters of OIC for many years and continue to assist us in our endeavor to improve the lives of people.”
As a non-profit organization for the past 45 years, OIC relies on sponsorships, donations and ticket sales to support the general operations of OIC. These dollars are known as the “unrestricted” funds that assist OIC with unexpected cost that occurred throughout the program year. OIC operates with restricted grants that are tied to programmatic operations and limited administrative cost.
“It is imperative that OIC continue to raise revenue to enhance the general operations of our organization,” stated Fox. “We encourage you to support our gala by taking out a sponsorship. And purchasing your tickets early for $60 per person. We are hoping that businesses may want to also donate a raffle item to OIC.”
Opportunities Industrialization Center of New Britain INC., (OIC NEW BRITAIN) is on the move to continue the work with middle and high school youth, young adults and eventually returning to do training/seminars for adults.
OIC New Britain is at the helm to establish collaborations within this community that will impact the lives of families, youth, school district and the business community. It is their belief that if you don’t Collaborate you will Evaporate especially in these times of reduced funding. Every agency is vital and has their own area of expertise. The OIC comes together to leverage resources, seek out new funding initiatives and continue to improve the conditions of this city and the community.
