Revaluation Personnel to Visit City Homes in Coming Months
The City of New Britain has contracted with Municipal Valuation Services, LLC of Fairfield, Conn., to assist the Assessor’s Office in performing the required 2017 revaluation. Residents are reminded that personnel from the company will be visiting homes to collect data.
The information will be used for the City’s 2017 revaluation process—which is mandated by Connecticut statute to take place every five years.
Personnel from the company will be inspecting approximately 5,000 residential properties throughout the City over the coming months. Every taxpayer whose property requires an inspection will be notified by a letter in the mail. Field personnel will wear company ID’s and will have a letter of introduction from the Assessor’s Office with them at the time of the inspection.
The property values determined through the revaluation process will be given to property owners in November 2017. These assessments will be used in determining tax bills for the 2018-19 fiscal year.
The New Britain Police Department is aware of these forthcoming inspections and relevant information about the revaluation personnel is on file with the City.
The revaluation will not affect taxes this year. It will be used to determine the tax rate for the 2018-19 bills.
