Stanley Golf Course Holds 3rd Annual Happy Hole-A-Days

A series of special events that will be taking place at Stanley Golf Course throughout the winter months. On Saturday, Dec. 20th, Stanley Golf Course will host the third annual Happy Hole-A-Days event. Complimentary buckets of balls will be given out at the driving range for the entire 3 hours from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. as well as free coffee and hot chocolate. Anyone taking part in this event can also expect a variety of giveaways, shooting target competitions every 15 minutes, and a special end of the year sale at the pro shop.

Mayor Stewart, an avid golfer herself, stated, “I’m so happy that the driving range will be open all winter long. The heaters, covered bays, and lights really make the driving range at Stanley one of the best in the state.”

Parks and Recreation Director Bill DeMaio added, “Can you imagine 15-foot tall inflatable Santas, snowmen, & reindeer strategically placed all over the driving range to be used as targets to win prizes? Stanley always has unique and cutting edge programs.” “This winter golf special event gained national attention in one of the 2013 editions of PGA Insider Magazine”, stated Stanley Golf Professional Kyle Hedstrom. He goes on to add, “Hundreds of dollars worth of free beer tickets will be given away throughout the event to be used at the Whinstone Tavern and there’s even a lucky colored ball contest where golfers who randomly receive the colored ball will win special gift cards and prizes.”

Additionally, Whinstone Tavern will be promoting their new lunch, pub and dinner menus throughout the day, which includes 20 percent off dinner entrees and 10 percent off pub menu items to people who partake in the festivities, as well as $2 off all holiday martinis.

Stanley Golf Course acting superintendent of golf operations John Napier added, “I have a great idea, offer to drive your significant other to the mall for last minute shopping. Then, head over to Stanley Golf Course for a free bucket of balls, discounted lunch, and a tasty holiday drink. Who knows, you might win a nice gift certificate for Christmas.”

During the colder months of January and February, Stanley Golf Course will offer all golfers a chance to win a 2015 season golf pass through the Lunchtime Buckets of Luck promotion. Every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of each month from 11:00am to 1:00pm, each person who purchases a bucket of balls will be entered into a raffle contest to take place the last Thursday of each month.

Matthew Cannata, Chairman of the Parks and Recreation Commission, stated the rules of the contest, “Your name gets entered once if you buy a small bucket, twice for a medium bucket, and three times for a large bucket purchased. There’s no limit to the number of times you can enter. The bigger the bucket and the more you participate, the greater your chances are of winning a 2015 season golf pass.”

At the end of both January and February, a drawing will take place in the parks and recreation office and posted to the department’s Facebook page announcing the winners of the monthly prizes. Monthly prizes will include one 2015 season pass winner (valued at $1300), 2015 free foursome with GPS carts (valued at $227), a free twosome with GPS carts (valued at $113.50), and a 45-minute lesson with Stanley Golf Pro Kyle Hedstrom (valued at $60). Other donated prizes may be available to win in the drawing.

The state-of-the-art driving range at Stanley Golf Course is covered, lighted, and heated. This enables golfers to stay on top of their game and hit balls comfortably throughout the winter months. During the winter months, the driving range opens at 9:00am and closes at 6 p.m. on a daily basis.
