Did you miss the deadline to get your pet vaccinated, but still want to get it done?
The Berlin Animal Control is holding a 2nd chance vaccine clinic at the Berlin Animal Control Shelter on Thursday, July 17 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. for those who did not make the June clinic in Berlin
License registration for dogs is still due by July 1.
“A lot of people in Berlin do it in July when they pay their taxes,” said Jan Lund, animal control officer. “We usually get about 50 people. Every time we do a rabies clinic in June, people call and want to know when it is and I tell them they missed it.”
However, this clinic is not just for Berlin residents. Anyone can come and bring their pet.
Costs are Rabies vaccine $15, Distemper/parvo vaccine $15, Bordetella vaccine $15 Two vaccines together is $25 and all three shots costs $40.
“We have been very lucky because we have not had a parvo problem in Berlin, but it is best to be safe,” said Lund.
The clinic is for cats, dogs, ferrets or any other animals.
“We even had a goat one year,” Lund recalled. “Dogs must be on a leash and cats must be in carriers.”
Vaccinations will be done by a licensed veterinarian. If you have current rabies vaccine certificate bring it with you. If you have that paperwork you can get a three year shot. Without it owners can only get a one year shot.
The event takes cash only.
The New Britain Police Department will also be holding a Rabies and Parvovirus Clinic on Sunday, June 29th from 10 a.m. to noon at the old Police Station located at 125 Columbus Blvd. in New Britain.
