Moving Forward – a New Strategic Plan

Our new strategic plan has been successfully completed. Thank you to all who participated and shared their thoughts and ideas with us.
The New Britain Public Library ensures that every resident has the opportunity to become successful and well-informed by offering resources, services and experiences that build skills and provide enrichment.
This is our mission statement as recently adopted as part of our new strategic plan which will guide the library for the next five years in serving the needs of the community.
The board of trustees began the process last summer by collecting data and information through surveys, interviews and focus groups of residents, library users, community leaders and staff.
We heard what we are doing right, how to do what we are doing better and what we need to do that we aren’t doing. We also heard that many do not know all that the library does and has to offer. This was a strong message to us that we need to work harder to get that information out to the community better.
After gathering a wealth of information, the next step was to put together goals and strategies and devise an implementation plan, putting action to the goals and strategies.
To find out more about the process and details of the plan, it can be viewed on the library’s web page, www.nbpl.info.
We are always looking for potential new board members who believe in our mission and
understand the importance of the library. If you have a strong commitment to the
community or have skills or expertise in areas such as fund raising, finance, advocacy or
non-profit experience, are interested and would more information please give me a call.
