New Look Salon Adds Fashion, Medical Wigs

Paul Radinieri always wants to add something new to his salon “New Look”. After seeing his wife suffer through cancer, he decided to offer a service to help those with medical needs.
“We are introducing wigs for fashion and for medical,” said Radinieri. “There are over 30,000 million women who are bald and need a wig. I want to help them so I am making this service available.”
Radinieri has been going to school to learn all the aspects of wigs. He works with the company Onrite and offers such products as Ultratress and Tressallure.
All wig services will be done in a private room and there is synthetic hair, real hair and custom-made wigs available.
“There is not too many places around that do this,” he said. “It is something pretty new in New Britain.”
Radinieri said Onrite has been a very solid company and that is why he is working with them. Presently, he has a few customers who use wigs, but this is basically a new service at his salon.
Radinieri began working in a barber shop at 8-years-old after school in Italy. He took that opportunity to watch and learn. He came to the United States in 1969 and knew he wanted to be a barber. He also learned English and went to night school. In 1971 he started working in a shop and in 1976 began his own shop in New Britain.
In that year Radinieri’s Connecticut team won the U.S. Championship for Hairdressing.
The team received trophies and traveled all over the country representing the best of the US hair stylists.
Since then the salon has continued to grow and Radinieri has kept up on all the new styles.
The salon now also offers a variety of special treatments from facials, to clearing skin to back treatment to exfoliation and chemical peels. It also has a number of massage treatments ranging from classic massage to Reiki, to hot stone massages, foot treatments and aromatherapy.
Manicure and pedicure treatments include express, the signature, spa manicure, men’s manicure, spa pedicure, hot stone pedicures and more. There are also spa packages.
Hair removal is available from the upper lip, to chin, to legs, stomach, chest and back.
Men’s hair styling begins at $25 for a shampoo, style and cut. Women’s begins at $40 for a cut, blow dry and style.
New Look also sells Glo Therapeutic Minerals and various hair and skin products.
New Look, 396 West Main St., is open Tuesday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Thursdays to 8 p.m.) and Saturday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
