Tri-City Trading to Celebrate 10 Years

When Kris Rutkowski began Tri-City Trading 10 years ago, the store was located across the street (6 Main St.) from his current location
Rutkowski soon bought his own building and built one of the largest pawn shops in the City located on 23 Main St.
“It’s a bigger location so we can have more stuff,” said Rutkowski. And stuff he has ranging from motorcycles to computers to clothes to furniture to camera’s to DVDs to jewelry and everything in between.
It’s easy to notice the store as various colored scooters are lined in front of it.
Although many stores in the area come and go, Rutkowski said that is not the case with Tri-City Trading.
“We are not going anywhere,” Rutkowski, who has four employees at the location, ensured us. “We buy and pawn. We buy anything of value. We pawn jewelry, lawn mowers, motorcycles and you name it.”
Rutkowski said it is not a typical pawn shop because it is over 4,000 feet.
“We are one of the biggest in New Britain and have a tremendous variety,” Rutkowski said. “We have tools, washing machines, electronics and just about everything else you can imagine.”
In fact it is encouraged to come in once a week just to see what is new. Customers continually bring in new items.
On April 5 the store will reach a big goal as it celebrates 10 years in business.
“When you open up you don’t think about how long you will be around. It just happens,” he said. “I’ve lived in New Britain for 32 years. I like the clientele. There is nothing else like it. New Britain offers a good diversity of nationalities and clientele. You can go to a different town and not get this range.”
He said he likes it in New Britain because everyone sells and buys different things.
On April 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tri-City Trading will have a sale with 25-50 percent off specials throughout the store. Food and beverages will also be available.
“I encourage people to come down and take a look,” said Rutkowski.
Store hours are Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information call 860-229-7156.
