Opening Day of baseball season is a bit over a week from now. It means it is time to make some predictions.

Starting with the National League East. It seems to me to be a toss up between the Atlanta Braves and the Washington Nationals. Last year I took Washington and it was Atlanta. I still believe Washington has a stronger rotation and better line-up.

1. Washington

2. Atlanta

3. New York

4. Philadelphia

5. Miami

Atlanta wins the wild card.

In American League it should be a Yankee/Boston battle. I do not count out anyone from this division out and see Tampa Bay and Baltimore playing well. Who I pick to win is no big surprise.

1. New York

2. Boston

3. Tampa Bay

4. Baltimore

5. Toronto

Boston wins wild card.

I don’t see a lot of decision making in the NL Central. St. Louis is a clear choice. Pittsburgh is my surprise team of the year.

1. St. Louis

2. Pittsburgh

3. Cincinnati

4. Milwaukee

5. Chicago

Pittsburgh gains second NL wild card spot.

I love the Detroit Tigers in the AL East. Their pitching always scares me. Everyone else is just playing for second.

1. Detroit

2. Chicago

3. Kansas City

4. Cleveland

5. Minnesota

The NL West looks tough between two California teams in San Francisco and Los Angeles. I favor LA because Yasiel Puig, Hanley Ramirez, Clayton Kershow and Zack Greinke will shine. I think the Giants lose a step this year and don’t even make the playoffs.

1. Los Angeles

2. San Francisco

3. Arizona

4. San Diego

5. Colorado

The AL West has three tough teams in Texas, Los Angeles and Oakland. I think any of the three could win the division. I am once again taking a team from LA.

1. Los Angeles

2. Texas

3. Oakland

4. Houston

5. Seattle

Texas wins a wild card spot.

Who do I expect in the World Series?

I’m taking my own team of course – The Yankees and the LA Dodgers. I can always hope!
