On Saturday May 17th the New Britain Historical Society and several CCSU interns will be holding a New Britain History in the style of Main Street USA. The event, The Bee’s Knees: New Britain’s 260 Years of History in the Hive, will be held in Central Park, New Britain from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will be based upon the idea of community engagement and pride in this city’s history. The plan is to have various local businesses, organizations, schools, and restaurants participate in the event by having a booth which showcases their history in New Britain as well as who they are today. We will be holding a public outreach meeting on Monday, April 7th from 7:30-9 p.m. in the community room of the New Britain police station in order to answer any questions about the event the community may have about the event and to provide information about how to become involved.
We will be holding a fundraiser on March 30th 2-5 p.m. at Capital Lunch. For $10 you will receive a delicious meal at the historical New Britain restaurant and fifty percent of the proceeds will go towards the Bee’s Knees history day event. Please come out and show your support.
