Very often I hear people say they hate snow or are sick of it. I have never heard more people say it than this year.
Three years ago we had more snow. We had storms that put so much snow we had buildings collapse. But, this year it seems like the snowfall is lasting forever.
I love the four seasons. I just wish winter was a month shorter than the other seasons. I’m ready for longer and warmer days already. I will not miss February at all.
I’m wondering if the cold weather is affecting prices. Gas is going up and grocery prices are rising again. Milk is expected to rise 60 cents next month. We make less money and pay more. Something has to give.
We seem to have a lot of tidbits in the paper this week. News like St. Ann’s needing more members for it Passion Play. I would think high school acting students would jump at the chance. Maybe, there is a school performance at the same time. Participants do not need to belong to St. Ann’s Church. I saw the play there last year and it was fantastic. If it interests you, give it a shot. They sure will appreciate it.
We also need to help a New Britain man. If you can, please help Mr. Joseph Newell get funds for his service dog. If he can get close to his goal, he will get his dog next month. See story for more details.
I visited the Seoul BBQ & Sushi Restaurant the other day for the story on page 3. The owners were very nice and the décor was amazing. I am hoping to go and eat there soon. It sure looks like an adventure everyone should try.
It also marked the beginning of a new feature. It is called the “Chamber Spotlight”. The New Britain City Journal will be featuring a different Chamber business each month. We really want everyone to know about our great businesses here in New Britain. I believe we have many more than people know.
Our Mystery Shopper ends Feb. 21 and winners will be chosen next week. I hope you took time to visit one of the four stores in the contest. Four lucky winners will be getting $50 cash. We are still thinking of a new promotion for the next month or so. If your business wants to be involved, let us know at 860-505-7612!
I have a few jokes this week I found from Facebook, but I will stick with the one that fits right into what everyone is talking about these days.
“The five stages of Winter: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, April!”
I told you weather was on everyone’s mind.
Until next week, keep warm and keep reading YOUR #1 Most Trusted New Britain Newspaper!
