The following candidates are running for Ward Aldermen. Each had the opportunity to submit a 200 word biography and a photograph. Each profile is unedited and presented in alphabetical order. Next week we will present candidates who are running for Aldermen at Large.
My name is Chris Duffy. I have lived in New Britain since 2006. My wife and our three children (son-12, daughter-4, daughter-new born) are life-long residents. We attend St. Mary’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church which is also located here in New Britain and are very active there. We are also involved with Boy Scouts. Our son is in Troop 75.
Watching our son’s educational experience of k-8, knowing that our daughter is about to start the journey, has made my wife and I very conscious of the issues our school system faces. We’ve also noticed that there have been jobs added in City Hall when other jobs in the city have been cut due to a lack of money in the budget. Clearly there is a budgeting issue, and money being distributed inappropriately. A balanced budget is crucial to the survival and growth of our city.
These are only a few of the issues that have made me wake up to local politics in the past decade. If elected to the City Council as Alderman for Ward 2, I would not support any decisions that would intrude on our residents’ lives or rights and only vote for a budget that would work to reduce our debt leaving our children with a more secure future.
