Elections 2013 - Board of Education - Stacy Rosado (R)

Born & raised in New Britain, I am a product of our city. My mother is Polish-American and my father is Puerto-Rican. I am very proud to represent both ethnicities.

I attended New Britain schools and graduated from NBHS in 2004. A major reason why I am running for BOE is because my parents were skeptical about sending me to a public middle school in NB and I would like to work toward ensuring that parents and families have no doubts about sending their children to a school in the Consolidated School District of New Britain.

My first job was working for the City of New Britain as a camp counselor and I worked my way up to be a site-program supervisor for the Parks and Rec Dept. This experience helped me realize my passion for working with youth.

I earned a B.S. in Human Development & Family Studies and a Master’s degree in School Counseling from UCONN. My education gave me the skills and knowledge to work in the best interest of our students and our future!

If elected to the New Britain Board of Education, some important initiatives I will push for are: early literacy on or above grade level at the elementary level and for secondary schools ensuring all students have a post-secondary plan and an adult in their building to mentor them with goal setting and guidance. Increasing parental / family involvement at all levels is essential!
