I am seeking re-election to a third term on the New Britain Board of Education because I believe deeply in urban education. Education is the great equalizer in life. It levels the playing field of opportunity. I would like to continue working with Mr. Cooper in an effort to change the trajectory of student achievement. A process that began this year with the recapturing of instructional hours, commitment to meaningful time on task, simplification of initiatives, equalizing the academic offerings for our students through the new neighborhood school model and successfully advocating for and receiving funds for new technology and textbooks. We have successfully reduced class size and increased the number of classroom teachers in our district. My role as President of the BOE is to work closely with the Superintendent and collaborate on ideas while working on policy and budgets. I am proud of the search process that led to the hiring of Mr. Cooper.
I am a lifelong resident of New Britain having attended DiLoreto Elementary School, St. Francis Middle School, Pulaski and New Britain High Schools. I graduated NBHS in 1983 and CCSU in 1987. The Beloin family has been in New Britain for multiple generations.
