By popular demand, the NBSO Steel Drum

Ensemble makes a reprise appearance in New Britain. This family focused concert features music of the Caribbean appealing to all ages.

A “petting zoo” will teach children about the instruments. Free concert.

NBSO String Quartet Plays the Beatles

Plainville Public Library

56 East Main Street, Plainville

The versatile String Quartet also returns to the area with its “Fab Four” Beatles music. Hear pop music written and performed in a classical style, from “A Hard Day’s Night” to “Hey Jude.” Free concert.

NBSO Brass Quintet and Organ

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church

147 West Main Street, New Britain

Open your holiday seasons with the Quintet’s fourth annual performance at St. Mark’s featuring the brilliance of brass and the celestial sounds of the pipe organ. Free will offering to benefit the NBSO and the St. Mark’s outreach food pantry. Reception following with hot mulled cider and holiday treats.

NBSO Recorder Quartet

Treat your sweetheart, family and friends to this Valentine’s concert of the delightful sounds of the recorder covering the breadth of music from ancient to modern. This performance should be appealing to young musicians who may be learning the recorder as their first instrument. Reception to follow with complimentary wine, punch and Valentine treats. Free will offering for the benefit of the NBSO and the Mooreland Hill Scholarship Fund.

The spirited sounds of the Klezmer Band

Ensemble is the perfect antidote for a lazy late spring afternoon. All will enjoy this concert of lively Eastern European music, which evolved from diverse cultural influences into a celebration of the human spirit. Concert is free, but regular museum admission applies.
