12U All - Stars First Team in 14 Years to Make District 5 Playoffs!

In 1999, the New Britain Little League 12U all - star team made the District 5 playoffs before losing in the District Championship Game. No one knew at that time that it would be another 14 years before a 12U team from NBLL would make it back into the District 5 playoffs. However, that’s what happened and now in 2013, we have a 12U team that has clinched a spot in the District 5 playoffs and will continue their quest for a District 5 Championship, which would be the first District 5 Championship in the baseball division in the history of New Britain Little League, which is over 56 years old! The team finished with a 5 - 1 record in pool play defeating Farmington, Yalesville, Ed Walsh of Meriden, Jack Barry of Meriden, and Southington South. Their only loss was to Edgewood of Bristol, 3 - 2.

10U All - Stars Finish 5 - 1 in Pool Play; Do Not Advance to Playoffs

Despite finishing 5 - 1 in pool play, the 10U all - star team did not advance to the playoff round due to tricky tiebreaker rules. With a 5 - 1 record, they were tied with Plainville and Berlin at the top of the standings. Since no team involved in the tie defeated both of the others, the next tiebreaker then came down to run differential, which is the number of runs allowed divided by the number of defensive innings played. Plainville had the lowest run differential, which put them through to the next round. The tiebreaker then went back to head - to - head and since Berlin had defeated New Britain earlier in the tournament, they were sent through to the next round, leaving our team out of the playoffs.

Despite this, the kids and coaches had an amazing time and represented the league and the city of New Britain in the best way possible. This was one of the best, if not the best, 10U team that New Britain Little League has ever seen. We know they are looking forward to getting back on the field next summer to earn their rightful spot in the playoffs!
