Editor’s Note 12/21/2012

I have received so many great emails, letters and phone calls this week in support of the paper. There have also been no less than a dozen people who stopped me at events and on the street to thank me for what I am doing for this City. You are all my inspiration. I know many of you can’t speak up for fear of retaliation from City Hall, but I want to say thank you.
The response I have received is tremendous. I will not let anything stop me. Little digs like “you read that slop?” from a certain member of the mayor’s office to a City Hall employee only reminds me how scared people are of us revealing the truth. Intimidation tactics do not work and you (you know who you are) do not need to follow a step behind us and watch our every move at meetings. We are not doing anything inappropriate and will not let your tactics stop us. If anything, we may be forced to file a complaint for harassment. I’m sure most of you can guess who that person from the mayor’s office is.
For my readers I want you to know we always take a vacation week between Christmas and New Years. Do not expect a paper next week. If something important does happen in the City, we are not ruling out a special edition. It is not planned, but not impossible.
Another thing happened this past week I cannot ignore. The killings at Sandy Hook Elementary School were just an abomination. My heart goes out to everyone affected. I know most of our lives are changed forever. It is heart-breaking especially at this time of year. Please continue to say prayers for the 26 innocent women and children killed. Physical violence is never okay.
Information on how New Britain children are being kept safe is on page 2.
How many of you had pictures taken with Santa Monday night at Trinity on Main? That was sponsored by savenewbritain.com. What a nice event for our children. I hear they have more events planned. I will keep you updated as I find out.
Page 1 is filled with important news this week. New Britain sure is hopping right now.
I had a hard time finding a joke on Facebook this week. No too many people were in a joking mood. I did come up with something that did make me smile.
Wife texts husband on a cold winter morning: “Windows Frozen”.
Husband texts back: “Pour some warm water on it”
Wife texts back 5 minutes later: “Computer completely messed up now”
I did not see that coming. Everyone should know not to pour water on a computer. OMG!
