Downtown New Britain steps into the way-back machine on Saturday, Sept. 17 as the New Britain Downtown District kicks off the 5th Annual New Britain Downtown Car Show.
Chrome will be King as Antique Cars from 20’s and 30’s, Classic Cars from the 40’s, Muscle Cars from the 50’s, Street Rods from the 60’s and the extreme Tuners of more recent vintage take over downtown New Britain.
Joining these retro machines, will be an exciting display of up-to-the-minute people-movers including Electric and Solar Cars, and an impressive display of state of-the-art buses to be used on the New Britain-Hartford Busway, planned for completion in 2014.
A 50/50 raffle will benefit the New Britain Police Explorers. New Britain’s historic Central Park, adjacent to City Hall, serves as the backdrop and local restaurants, exhibitors, vendors, and a DJ will add to the family fun.
See if your favorite car wins is awarded the coveted Mayors Trophy. Also in New Britain on Saturday, Sept. 17, is the 14th Annual Substance-Free Family Day from 12 - 5 p.m. at Walnut Hill Park, New Britain.
New Britain Mayor Timothy T. Stewart, who will be delivering a proclamation at Family Day, stated “ New Britain’s Substance-Free Family Day is an outstanding way for the whole family to have fun in a safe and supportive environment. I want to encourage everyone to come to Walnut Hill Park on Saturday, Sept. 17 to take advantage of all the games and activities we have planned. There will be food, fun, music and dancing all afternoon.
So grab the kids and come on down to New Britain’s 14th Annual Substance Free Family Day.
