June is just around the corner. At the New Britain Public Library, this means the beginning of summer reading clubs for every age. All you have to do is read!

The kickoff of the adult summer reading club, Hot Diggety Dog, will be on Saturday, June 18 at 1 p.m. Meet Mark Kotlinski, a local filmmaker who will talk about his movie, A Connecticut Hot Dog Tour. His film takes you on a mouth-watering road trip to some of Connecticut’s unique hot dog stands. Two local businesses, Capitol Lunch and the Dawg House, are in the movie. Enjoy a Capitol Lunch hot dog on the house at the program. Signups will continue through August 8 for the weekly prize drawings.

You Are Here @ Your Library is the teen summer reading club. Starting Monday, June 20, teens in grades 6 through 12 can sign up. Read books and get prizes. One lucky grand prize winner will receive a $100 gift card to Barnes & Noble! At programs throughout the summer, teens can make a travel journal, Caribbean beaded foot jewelry, sandpaper cave drawings, Japanese fans or enjoy an Indian culture themed program, the Bollywood Adventure.

The children’s reading club is One World, Many Stories. Any child, age 3-12, can sign up June 13 – July 8. Read at least 20 minutes per day for six weeks to earn prizes – mood pencils, books, ticket to a Rock Cats game and certificates for a meal at Applebee’s. Young children can be read to by their caregiver. Then join us for a variety of programs on other countries and learn about their music, food and stories.
