The Art League of New Britain Gallery will feature two solo exhibitions by artists Edith Skiba LaMonica and Zbigniew M. Sokolowski. The Exhibition will be on view from August 3 through August 26. There will be an opening reception with refreshments on Friday August 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. The Art League of New Britain is located at 30 Cedar St. (in the rear).
LaMonica has an MA in Art History from Stony Brook University. Her career involved teaching and lecturing at colleges and art venues in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Her current oil paintings “Meditations on Nature” express her observations of the woodland and water environments in her Connecticut surroundings. The seasons and weather revise the appearance and living conditions of this untamed wilderness. She says her art plays out her fascination with the mysterious nature of reality.
Zbigniew Sokolowski, was born in Poland and graduated in 1982 a Professor from The Henryk Cendrowski’s School of Painting. He was a famous fashion designer for the high-end fashion industry in Poland for 27 years. Zbigniew Sokolowski, has had dozens of exhibitions in Poland, Germany, England and over 200 in the United States alone. The subjects of his paintings are full figure portraits inspired by modernism.
