It is so nice to see summer here again. No more cold days for a while and so much to do.
The summer concerts at the Darius Miller Shell at Walnut Hill Park have begun. The Farmer’s Market at Central Park on Wednesdays started this week (see story on page 2). The New Britain Bees are back in town. There are various shows going on across the City. There are just a lot of reasons to get out of the house.
Did you see the fireworks on the 4th of July at Stanley Quarter Park? I enjoy them every year. The crowd seemed smaller to me, but the traffic was as bad as ever. So many people tried to get out fast. There is nothing quick about that day. With so many people it takes hours to get anywhere.
To me the fireworks mean summer is here. It goes by quickly so get out and do things while you can. Don’t waste a day.
This week we took a look at who the next mayor could be if Mayor Erin Stewart wins Lt. Gov. in November. As we stated, none of these candidates are definitely running. These are just our guesswork of possibilities. Others could throw their hat in the ring and some we named may not be interested in the position. I think it is interesting to look at the top candidates anyway. A huge number of people have asked me who would run for mayor.
I believe Merrill Gay would have the best chance to win. He ran last year and did a very good job. I am not endorsing anyone at this time. This is all speculation.
If Mayor Stewart wins her bid, it is going to be an interesting few months. See page 1 for more information.
In our business section we have information on Taqueria La Grande. I had Mexican tacos in Cancun last December. I liked this restaurant’s authentic version better. They are delicious. Support our City.
Check out the story on page 6.
We certainly have a lot of places to eat in the City. It seems every day there is a new restaurant opening. I love it.
I put the following joke on Facebook and many people liked it. It is my joke of the week.
“Bread is like the sun. It rises in the yeast and sets in the waist.”
Until next week, enjoy each day like it was your last and keep reading New Britain’s #1 Most Trusted Newspaper!
