For those of you who do not know, my mother went to heaven on Tuesday morning. It has been a rough week for me. The wake will be next Tuesday evening from 4-7 p.m. at Shaker Funeral Home and the funeral on Wednesday morning at St Ann’s.

The next few weeks, I will have a heavy heart so please bear with me. I will do my best as I was very close to my mother.

So what else is happening around the City?

I was very happy to see no tax increase in Mayor Erin Stewart’s proposed budget. It actually went down by a hair. No one wants to see a tax increase. It will be interesting to see if the Council makes any changes. I doubt they would raise it, but who knows.

I noticed when the Mayor raised taxes Democratic committee members complained about it. When she decreased it they complain as well that she should have raised them. It will be interesting to see their complaint this year.

I had so much fun last week watching children’s reactions to llamas. They were so excited. It is so great to see young ones so happy. Animals seem to make everyone smile.

See both the budget story and the llama’s at the library on page 1.

Have you been to the New Britain Museum of American Art recently? There are four Community Days this year which are free. It is an amazing museum. You should go every chance you get. See the latest news on page 2.

The Republican Town Committee is holding its second annual awards dinner later this month. Tim Stewart and Peter Gostin are being honored. Both are great choices. See story on page 3.

This week’s jokes once again surround children.

Teacher: Donald, what is the chemical formula for water?

Donald: H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O

Teacher: What are you talking about?

Donald: Yesterday you said it was H to O.

And the second one.

Teacher: Harold, what do you call someone who keeps on talking even when people are no longer interested?

Harold: A teacher?

Oh, boy I bet he was scolded for that answer.

Until next week, be careful how you answer your teacher and keep reading New Britain’s #1 Most Trusted Newspaper!
