- Riley’s, 61 Glen St., New Britain – Riley’s takes first place. Riley’s established itself in 2010 with a hot dog cart on South Street New Britain to rave reviews. Now it is a favorite to stop, sit and grab a bite.
According to its website, “Our vision is a gourmet Hot Dog and Hamburger Restaurant in downtown New Britain’s Central Business District. We will utilize local meats, fresh ingredients, unique toppings, and family recipes to create innovative and enjoyable dining experiences for hot dog enthusiasts and hamburger connoisseurs alike.”
Readers said there is “none better” and it wins “hands down”.
- Capitol Lunch, 510 Main St., New Britain – Known for its hot dogs, Capitol Lunch also makes great hamburgers.
According to its website, “The beginnings of Capitol Lunch didn’t start with hot dogs oddly enough. The location was originally a little shoe shine shop that began to sell hot dogs to attract customers. Eventually the hot dogs became so popular that Capitol Lunch was founded in 1929. Since then the famous Capitol Lunch Hot Dog hasn’t changed much.”
- Zack’s Burgers and Shakes, 520 High Rd, Berlin – This is a family owned American style restaurant focusing on fresh local ingredients, fresh ground burgers and delicious hand spun milkshakes.
