I could not be prouder than to name Sheri and Steve Amato as our Persons of the Year for 2017.

I have seen these two continually do whatever they can to help the residents of New Britain and beyond.

Besides bringing in the movie (A Very Merry Christmas Store), raising money and goods for the Salvation Army and helping needy children with toys, they have been on City committees (such as the Halloween Safe Zone Committee and Downtown District Car Show) and volunteered their time for the good of the community.

These are two good people in the City and all of us should learn to be more like them. I take pride in calling them my friends. They represent all that is good in our City. We are lucky to have them.

Give them a big congratulations when you see them. Read story on page 1.

Believe it or not snow is coming. Just when, may not be a sure thing, but it will get here.

This week we have a story to prepare you for the weather season. See page 1.

Are you still holiday shopping? The New Britain Senior Center Crafters are preparing for their annual bazaar on Dec. 8. Stop by and purchase a gift, have lunch and win a raffle prize. I won a raffle prize last year. I tend to be lucky!

Read more about the bazaar and a few other bazaars across the City on page 2.

Did you see the movie filmed in New Britain? Did you go to the premiere? It was a lot of fun. The popcorn and food from the Whey Station and Nora’s Cupcakes were good too. Read all about it on page 3.

On page 4 we have a story about Tuba Christmas. I went last year and it was so much fun. If you haven’t gone, add it to your must do plans this Christmas. See story on page 4.

I must also mention that Santa Claus will be lighting our tree next Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. Be at Central Park and bring your children. It is one of my favorite holiday celebrations.

This is such a great season. Take time to enjoy the events in the City. I hope to see you there.

And do not forget to send me your story ideas. Email me at nbcityjourna@yahoo.com.

Time for a joke? Why not?

“The police arrested two suspicious men in a car park today. One was drinking battery acid and the other was eating fireworks. They charged one and let the other one off.”

Kind of a cute one sent in to me.

Until next week, get into the holiday mood, and keep reading New Britain’s Most Trusted Newspaper!
