Paier College of Art located at 20 Gorham Ave, Hamden, CT will be showcasing a selection of artwork created by adults with disabilities this month at an exhibit in the gallery of the Fine Arts Building. The artists are individuals served by CCARC, Inc., Central Connecticut’s leading nonprofit dedicated to providing personalized services to people with disabilities.

Headquartered in New Britain, CCARC’s Mission is to “Make Dreams Happen” for men and women who face the daily, lifelong challenges of living with intellectual disabilities such as Down Syndrome, as well as autism, cerebral palsy and multiple other physical limitations. Creating artwork is proving to be a powerful means of expression for these adults. The theme of the exhibit is “Making Dreams Happen Through Art.”

CCARC is privileged to benefit from the expertise and kindheartedness of Vince Stryeski, an architect, artist, poet and instructor at Paier College of Art. Working as an architect for Kaestle Boos, Mr. Stryeski designed CCARC’s main facility on Slater Road in New Britain. He now generously donates time each week to “Make Dreams Happen” through art at CCARC.

“Once again, CCARC is deeply grateful to Dean of the College, Francis Rexford Cooley for making this wonderful opportunity possible for our artists here at CCARC. Thanks to Vince Stryeski, the people with intellectual disabilities CCARC serves have been given the chance to reveal their artistic talents in ways that all of us can enjoy and appreciate. We are amazed at the works of art they have produced and we appreciate Paier College providing a way to share them with as many members of the community as possible.” said Anne L. Ruwet, CCARC’s Chief Executive Officer.

As an institution preparing students for professional careers in art, Paier College of Art is committed to a program of learning and services that provides intensive practice in art skills; development in art expression; studies in general education and opportunities for growth in human values; career programs leading to Bachelor of Fine Arts and Associate in Fine Arts degrees.
