Top 10 Places to Pick Up Coffee/Expresso/Cappuccino

Most people enjoy a good cup of coffee. In New Britain and Berlin there are many places to pick up the hot beverage. City Journal Facebook group members named their top 10.
- Whole Donut, 1198 Farmington Ave., Berlin. By a landslide The Whole Donut took the top spot. Coffee ranges from $1.31 for a small to $2.20 for a jumbo. They also sell doughnuts and breakfast sandwiches.
- Euro Cafe, 113 Broad St. took second place with a great cup of coffee made the European way. It is a great place to sit and relax and it also serves desserts. Hours do vary and it is not open on Mondays. According to the website, “A top-of-the line hot air, smokeless roaster creates Euro Café’s unique blend.”
- West Side, 586 West Main St. Known for its amazing Brazilian cuisine, it is also a great place to stop for a cappuccino. Not on the menu, but ask for it.
- Portofino’s, 246 New Britain Rd, Kensington. Residents enjoy the coffee at this Italian restaurant. After a meal grab a coffee and one of its amazing desserts like peanut butter cheesecake.
- Dunkin Donuts, 1537 Stanley St. There are several Dunkin Donuts in New Britain so take your choice. Hot or cold, DD has been a favorite for many years. Get flavored or Lattes or many other kinds. Pick up a donut or a breakfast sandwich as well.
- Borinquen Bakery, 606 Arch St. Chosen as a Top 10 bakery in the City, residents say the coffee is pretty good as well. It recently moved and is getting larger.
- CJ’s Restaurant, 70 South St. CJ’s was the City Journal winner of best breakfast in the City. Residents seem to like everything about this restaurant including coffee. Also sells a fantastic lunch with great specials.
- Cafe Beauregard, 2 Main St. Known as the place in the City President Barack Obama had lunch, it also serves a great breakfast. Coffees include espresso, cappuccino, latte and Cafe Americano.
- McDonald’s, 40 Martin Luther King Dr. There are various McDonald’s in New Britain and Berlin. Coffee is made with 100 percent Arabica beans, expertly roasted and freshly brewed every 30 minutes. Available in small, medium, and large. Iced, latte’s and mocha’s also available.
- East Side Restaurant, 131 Dwight St. This restaurant is known for it’s German food and huge European beer selection. Next time you stop in for a Schnitzel and a Hofbrau, finish the meal off with a strudel and a coffee. Our Facebook group members like it.
