Did your Valentine’s Day not turn out as you hoped? On Wednesday, Feb. 15 you will get another chance for a fun evening at the Greater New Britain Arts Alliance (GNBAA) Second Chance Fun Raiser.

“It’s a fundraiser for the arts alliance. It’s at Trinity on Main because they have Karaoke every Wednesday night. This is a preamble,” said Stephen Hard, executive director of the GNBAA. “We are dressing it up a bit. It is going to be a blast.”

Doors open at 6 p.m. with beer, wine and Second Chance Cocktails (included) until 7:30 p.m.

Raffle includes a V.I.P basket, theater tickets, romantic dinners, and adult beverages.

Buffet dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. Dessert is at 7:30 p.m. including chocolate and strawberries.

The cash bar opens at 7:30 p.m. The raffle drawings are at 7:45 p.m.

Hannah Hurwitz will be Madame Hannah for the evening and will be dressed up like a gypsy. She will read “love lines” for $5.

“People can go in and get their love lines read. It will be funky and fun,” Hard said. “Leona Clerkin came up with the idea of a Sweetheart and Selfie Corner. It will have appropriate and inappropriate props.”

“Prophylactic Karaoke” starts at 7:15 p.m. Guests pay $1 to have someone sing who can then pay $2 not to sing. For $20 you can get Comprehensive Singing Prevention for oneself or someone else. Gerry Amodio will be handling the scoreboard.

Surprise entertainment begins at 8 p.m. Representatives from The Imperial Court of Connecticut are planned.

“Part of their act is lip singing,” said Hard. “It’s going to be wild.”

Regular Wednesday Night Karaoke commences after the drag number with emphasis on love songs.

“It is meant to be zany, fun and light-hearted,” Hard said. “We had been talking about doing a Christmas Karaoke and we did not have the time to put it together. After the holidays someone suggested we do something for Valentine’s Day. Trinity on Main already had this so we thought it would work.”

Cost is $15 per person in advance, $25 at the door or $25 per couple in advance and $40 at the door.

Ticket requests can also be sent with a check made out to the GNBAA, 19 Chestnut Street, New Britain, CT 06051 or by calling 860-832-8299 to pay by phone using credit card. There are no physical tickets. A list of names will be held at the door.

“We really want people to buy tickets in advance,” Hard added.
