Each week it gets a little closer to Halloween. I can’t wait for this year’s Halloween Trick or Treat Safe Zone. If you like the Halloween Safe Zone page on Facebook, you get little jokes throughout September and October as well as information on the fundraiser and event. Please join.
For those who want to be part of the committee our next meeting is this Friday at 9 a.m. at the Downtown District.
We are looking, once again this year, for those who would like to trunk or treat. Basically, you decorate the back of your car for Halloween. We give you candy and you give it to the kids at the safe zone event. It is a lot of fun and the kids love it.
If you like the holiday and want to get into the spirit, this is a great way. It doesn’t cost you anything. You can bring candy if you wish. The event is from 5-7 p.m. on Halloween night.
I have picked out my costume, but won’t tell you what it is. You will have to go to the event. Have you picked out a costume? We have great childrens prizes and adult prizes.
Also, our fundraiser is Oct. 17 at 5:30 p.m. at West Side Tavern. Tickets are $20 and you get a buffet, a chance at a door prize and there are raffle tickets with great prizes. Just this week Polumbo’s Jewelers donated a great sterling silver necklace. All profits goes towards the event.
If you wish to donate candy or funds, drop them off at the Downtown District, 66 West Main St.
Do you like dogs? Pulaski Middle School showed off a couple of their therapy dogs this week in Cooper and Barkley. Therapy dogs are helping students through difficult times. See story on page 1.
If you need Urgent Care, be sure to read page 2. It is great to have a place you can walk into without the long wait in the emergency room. If you have a life threatening emergency, however, please go to the emergency room.
This kind of care is certainly needed in New Britain. It seems to be a very caring place that offers a lot of services. Another positive for New Britain.
