There is nothing quite like a car show. The New Britain Downtown Car Show last Saturday was one of the best in the area. I never can decide exactly which car is my favorite. I have to admit I liked a pink Thunderbird I saw. I never can pass up checking out a Ferrari either. I like both the old and the new cars.
I was very amused with cars set up for Halloween. One was kind of spooky and humorous. Overall, I can’t remember a better car show than last Saturday. It was a lot of fun.
How often do you go to the New Britain High School football games and hear the cannons go off? This week we have a story telling you a bit of history about that cannon. It’s a fun thing just for New Britain. Even though I know they will sound loud, I still jump. That little cannon is loud.
Wondering when the City will finish working on your road? Check out page 2 for a recap on roads to find completion date for projects. I didn’t realize there were so many road projects happening. We never even mentioned potholes which seems to be an ongoing problem.
New Britain will now have it’s own food truck. See more on page 3.
I have to reiterate that our Fundraiser for the Halloween Trick or Treat Fundraiser is Oct. 17 at 5:30 p.m. West Side Tavern. It costs $20 for a buffet. We have great raffle prizes. So far we have car washes from Diamond Brite, a surround sound system from Jaws Pawn, 4 tickets to the New Britain Bees, a Suite at a Bees game, a gift certificate from Pizza Pal, wine baskets, a boom box and more gift baskets. Please donate or come and show your support. We have a paypal account set up as well for donations. See our page on Facebook for a link. Every penny goes towards the event. Most funds go towards candy.
One day I would like to have a spooky area in Central Park. But, we will have a haunted house at Anvil Place. We may also have some bouncy rides this year. Of course the YMCA Dancers will be back to perform “Thriller”. A lot more information is coming up as we get closer to the event. It’s a highlight of the year for me.
Time for this week’s joke from Facebook.
“You never appreciate what you have until it is gone. Toilet paper is a good example.”
Yeah, that needs to always be available.
Until next week, keep everything you need handy and keep reading New Britain’s Number 1 Most Trusted Newspaper!
