I have to start out this week by sending a big “Thank You” to Amato’s Toy and Hobby for caring so much about this country. It is amazing that people in our community go out of their way to help others. It was quite a trip to bring toys to Louisiana. I am sure many are grateful. Thanks again to the Amatos. You made New Britain proud.

I’m wondering how many of you out there are still playing Pokemon. The thrill seems to have worn off. I am only happy if I find new Pokemon. I think after a month or two the game has become not as exciting. I’m waiting for the next big thing.

We have a story on page one about the vacuuming program of leaves. I am glad I did not have it around me. Every time the wind blows my leaves would be back on the lawn. I hate raking leaves and I only want to do it once. It was wise to end that program.

Are you going to St. Lucian’s Tag Sale on Saturday. I can’t go this year so I am very disappointed. I always find something I can’t live without.

I’m so excited about our Halloween Trick or Treat Safe Zone fundraiser. We are in need of prizes for both the raffle and Halloween night. If you have anything you would like to donate contact me at 806-505-7612. Last time we had gift certificates from local food stores, restaurants and gift baskets. This year the New Britain Bees have donated tickets and a suite for a game. Be sure to attend on Oct. 17 at West Side Tavern at 6 p.m. Tickets are $20 and you will get a light buffet. If you have not been to West Side Tavern, this is a great opportunity to stop by. Their food is amazing.

I hope you attended either the Latin Festival or Dozynki a few weekends ago. I went to both. Each was very different. Both had great music and entertainment. I saw flamenco dancers at the Latin Fest and a Talent Show at Dozynki. I didn’t understand most of the Talent Show since I don’t speak Polish, but the crowd loved it.

I’m so proud of the diversity in our City. Most local towns can’t brag about so many festivals. We are truly lucky here in New Britain. We are one of a kind.

I found a cute joke from Facebook this week.

“We all need a reason to get out of bed in the morning. Mine is to use the toilet.”

And speaking of toilets. I saw the next joke on a plumbing truck on Facebook.

“Straight flush beats a full house.”

Until next week keep laughing and keep reading New Britain’s #1 Most Trusted Newspaper!
