Summer is winding down and I can’t help but think about Halloween.
Maybe, not pumpkins and ghosts yet, but our Halloween Safe Zone event happening downtown.
For it to go on this year, we will need a lot of help from residents. We plan to hold at least one fundraiser at the end of Sept. or early Oct. Businesses can help by donating a gift certificate. Donations are also needed. They can be mailed to the paper at PO Box 2111, New Britain, CT 06050 or dropped off to Gerry Amodio at the Downtown District on West Main St. For more info email me at [email protected]. We will recognize you as a sponsor.
I’m a little worried this year because we’ve had a late start. I will give you much more information next week. Please keep this event in mind. As always it is all for the kids of our City to have a safe Halloween. That is very important.
I want to thank Mayor Erin Stewart for her great article in this week’s paper. I hope it set some facts straight. Please read the entire article.
Congratulations to St. John the Evangelist parishioners on celebrating 100 years. It is quite an accomplishment these days. Many members volunteer to help the church. I went to their bingo last Sunday and although I didn’t win, it was a nice cool thing to do on a hot Sunday afternoon.
Speaking of Sunday, did you see West Side Tavern now has brunch? It is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. See ad on page 1.
This week we have a story on Crazed Out Sports. If you love team stuff, you need to stop here. There are some really interesting items. See story on page 2 and look for their ad in the paper for 20 percent off.
I can’t wait for the Latin Festival coming Aug. 27. I hope a lot of people turn out. The food and entertainment look great. See story on page 3.
Are you still watching the Olympics. There has been a lot of excitement. I’m not really into track and field, but it has still been fun to watch. Michael Phelps, Katie Ledecky and Simone Biles were magnificent.
Are you ready for my joke from Facebook?
“I finally figured out what I want to be when I get older….younger.”
Yeah, me too. I don’t think it works that way.
Until next week Think Young and keep reading New Britain’s #1 Most Trusted Mewspaper!
