Yes. We were closed again last week. Expect a few more weeks of vacation this year. It is difficult to run a small newspaper and keep it going every week. Summer is very slow.

Depending on ads and staff issues, there will be several times the paper will not come out. We are still going strong, there are just some things we cannot control.

Of course, advertising from the businesses keeps us going. To advertise call 860-505-7612.

While I was away, I visited the 911 Museum in New York City. I learned a lot, but it was very sad. That same day the Dallas shooting occurred which only brought more sorrow.

It is wonderful that the City has a Community Prayer.

We need to all bind together as a community and not be divisive. I believe New Britain to really accept the diversity of its people. I know I am very proud of the fact that New Britain has many nationalities.

It is a sad day when people are injured because of race or prejudice of any kind.

An event was held Wednesday night brings people together. The City has such thoughtful leaders like Mayor Erin Stewart and Alderman Kristian Rosado. We are lucky to have leaders that care about everyone in the community. This prayer was just another sign of New Britain’s strength and understanding. Thank you New Britain for caring about all of us regardless of color or occupation.

We have a terrific police force in our City. I hope everyone appreciates them as well.

Also, this week we see that Pokemon is sparking a lot of interest. I uploaded it just to see what it was all about. I have about 10 critters, but I don’t know what to do with them. I guess I will have to delve deeper into the game.

It is wonderful that it is helping people learn more about our City and getting people to walk. Be sure to hit Walnut Hill Park. It has a lot for players.

The City also got a developer for the area of the old police department. It looks really promising. If it works, it really could be a good anchor for the City. When you walk around downtown New Britain there is so much happening. Read Story on page 2.

Time for this week’s Facebook joke.

“While walking to the lake with my fishing pole bait box, someone asked me if I was going fishing? I said nope, just taking my worms for a walk.”

It’s kind of a cute one.

Until next week, go fishing and keep reading New Britain’s #1 Most Trusted Newspaper!
