Nothing feels better to New Britain than karma. The problems with the Hartford Yard Goats continue. While I feel sorry for Hartford residents, I feel no sorrow for the owners after the way they treated our great City.
Had they treated us with respect, they may have been playing this year in New Britain and next year in Hartford. Instead, Mayor Erin Stewart got another team in the New Britain Bees, and the Yard Goats have nowhere to play. Our City has fallen in love with the Bees and we could not ask for more.
Funny how these things work out in the end.
Our ticket winner for two free Bees tickets this week is Martin Bodnar. Congratulations!
Two Democratic primaries are taking place Aug. 9 as Sharon Beloin-Saavedra and Lucian Pawlak received enough signatures to qualify. The races look like the best ones running this year. There continues to be division in that party. It is still growing. It is interesting that both endorsed candidates by the party have some controversies around them.
The area’s homeless population continues to drop. That is big news and it is fantastic. The Mayor has worked hard on that issue and it is great to see we are having some success. There will always be homeless, but the more help we can offer those that want help is fantastic. See story on page 1.
So the Governor may cut more funds to New Britain. No wonder his approval ratings are so low. His actions are really hurting residents.
Have you ever been in the What Not Shop? It is a treasure. If you collect items, need to decorate or just want to re-live a memory, you should stop in and talk to Mr. Phil. There really are some fun items in there. Bring a few dollars as you may find more than one thing to purchase. See story on page 2.
Have you seen some of the bazaars are starting? Holy Cross Bazaar is June 16 and Sacred Heart’s Odpust is June 24. June is a fun month. To me as a kid, the bazaars meant school was ending and summer beginning.
I found the following joke on Facebook, but I’m not sure I think it to be funny. It kind of made me mad because it us true.
“Welcome to the middle class where you have enough money to pay your bills and taxes, but not enough to do anything else.”
Maybe this is funnier.
“Relationships are a lot like Algebra. Have you ever looked at X and wondered Y?”
Until next week try to find something funny for me and keep reading New Britain’s #1 Most Trusted Newspaper!
