All in Agreement

There are very few times in New Britain both political parties are happy.

The Charter Revision Commission public hearing seems to be one of those times as very few people turned out to speak.

One of the most controversial items - changing the way the Common Council could be voted in to assure minority representation - was discussed early in the process. The Charter Revision Commission listened to all concerns before voting not to change it. Both parties were in agreement to keep it the same. Evidently, the two opposing town chairmen even shook hands that night.

Residents should take time to read each of the three questions carefully and understand them before coming to a decision. Don’t be afraid to attend the public hearing that will take place before the Council later this month. This is your chance to get your voice heard.

There are several months before the public votes on the three questions. The real answer of whether or not the City is in agreement will be answered by residents on Election Day.
