3rd Annual Rose Garden Festival is Right Around the Corner

Mayor Erin E. Stewart, Parks and Recreation Chairman Patrick Dorsey, Vice Chairman Paul Shaker Jr. and the New Britain Parks and Recreation Department are pleased to announce the return of the exciting festival that was the talk of New Britain in 2015. The third annual New Britain Rose Garden Festival, presented by Stanley Black and Decker, will be taking place at the Walnut Hill Rose Garden on Saturday, June 18th from 5-10 p.m.
Once again, imagine dining, drinking, dancing, and the spectacular scenery of 1,000 multi-colored, full bloom roses for five hours on a warm summer night in June at historic Walnut Hill Park. Come out and be a part of this special community wide event that will feature a night of live music as well as the opportunity to enjoy food from a variety of local restaurants! In addition, beverages of all kinds will be available for purchase including beer, wine, and spirits. Admission to the event will be $7 per person in advance and $10 the day of the event. This event is for persons 21 years of age and older. Food and beverages will be sold separately.

Amid the Rose Garden, there will be music, dancing, drinks, and food from a variety of local restaurants to enjoy in the company of friends. Co-sponsors of this exciting event include the Greater New Britain Chamber of Commerce and the Friends of Walnut Hill Rose Garden. Restaurants committed to the event to date are: Great Taste, Whinstone Tavern, Max Pizza II, Staropolska, Riley’s Gourmet Burger, and Criollisimo from New Britain as well as David Alan Catering from Berlin, who in addition will also be taking care of the bar responsibilities for the evening. Any other restaurants interested in acquiring a booth at the festival should contact Erik Barbieri, Parks, Recreation, & Community Services Director at 860- 826-3360 to obtain a vendor application.
“The fee for restaurants to be part of this unique ‘Taste of Greater New Britain’ event is only $200 and we are near maxcapacity for this unique catering opportunity.” The rose garden atop the park near the World War I Monument is the largest volunteer maintained Rose Garden in the state, led by the efforts of Kate McCue and the Friends of Walnut Hill Rose Garden.
The event will start with a Happy Hour from 5:00pm to 6:00pm. Parks and Recreation
Commission Chairman Patrick Dorsey said, “I am encouraging everyone to come and enjoy Happy Hour, which will feature free giveaways and discounted drink specials.” Following the Happy Hour will be the first of two bands to take the stage that evening. Shaded Soul will get theparty and dancing started and the nightcap will feature Dr.K’s Motown Revue, rocking the stage for the remainder of the night. These are two of Connecticut’s most popular event bands that will be sure to keep the party going strong all night long.
