The winner of our New Britain Bees contest last week was Keith Lagasse. Be sure to look for information and enter this week. We are giving away another four tickets to next Friday’s game. If you have not been to a game, you should. The Bees are a great night out. Lots of action and plenty of fun.
I’m still in awe that the Yard Goats have no stadium yet. The latest is that they may be looking for money from the State. State Republicans signed a letter to Gov. Dannel Malloy urging them not to use State money. Read the letter on this page.
This week’s paper has a lot of good information. I am quite upset that the schools are getting less money from the State. If money was promised, it should be given. What kind of people go back on their promises for kids? Stamford, the home of Gov.Malloy, continuously receives more money than average and New Britain suffers. This is wrong.
I think we need a governor who is from New Britain. Any ideas who?
I had great fun last weekend at the Greek Festival. I love Greek food and dancing. I can’t pronounce most of what I ate so I won’t try. I can spell souvlaki and baklava. Yum!
Events like this is why I love New Britain. One Saturday I felt like I was in Germany and the next Greece. Last month I was in Poland. A little bit of Europe is right here in New Britain. I wonder where I will be next.
One place I am sure to go is the to Memorial Day Parade. I enjoy parades. New Britain has one of the best. It is on Monday this year at 6 p.m. Don’t miss it.
While you are out celebrating, stop by one of the Veteran Ceremonies. That is the real reason for the holiday. Honor our lost loved ones who served. More details are on page 4.
We have a few people running for primary in August. Both are good people who deserve the positions. See page one for more information.
If your child is missing too many days of school, it will hamper them for life. Slade School is trying to nip it in the bud. Read page 2 for more and attend their next rally.
I didn’t see too many funny jokes on Facebook this week. One stuck out as something people my age would appreciate.
“You know you are getting old when your year of birth is no longer immediately visible in drop-down menus and you have to start scrolling down.”
I don’t like this getting older bit. It felt like just last month I was 21.
Until next week, stay young, and keep reading New Britain’s #1 Most Trusted Newspaper!
